JOB DESCRIPTION Instructional and Program Support:
1. Collect and disaggregate student data from ELA assessments to determine students’ learning priorities.
2. Monitor progress, and help sustain continuous improvement of students experiencing difficulties in ELA.
3. Use learning strategies appropriate to the intended goal.
4. Provide instruction that honors the diversity of students and teachers and use knowledge of that diversity to maximize effectiveness.
5. Communicate appropriately with the Director of Curriculum, curriculum department, and others responsible for the success of the program.
6. Deepen educators’ content knowledge by delivering professional development that will support research-based instructional strategies that assist students in meeting rigorous academic standards.
7. Meet with grade level teams to assist in integration of the ELA TEKS in the PK-5 curriculum.
8. Provides educators with knowledge and skills to involve families and other stakeholders.
9. Serve as a resource for professional materials and instructional strategies/materials.
10. Perform other duties as suggested by the Director of Curriculum.
11. Plan, demonstrate, and co-teach with classroom teachers.
12. Present staff development sessions for grade level teams and campus staff.
13. Assist administration in identifying campus weakness in ELA.
14. Meet with district curriculum department on regular basis and send information to campus.
15. Assist Teachers in developing curriculum-based assessments and instruction.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS: ·
Bachelor’s Degree (Master’s Degree preferred)·
Valid Teacher Certificate·
Familiarity with state, and district standards·
Prior training in district ELA initiatives (preferred)Campus leadership experience (preferred

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Elementary ELA Specialist works with classroom teachers, special educators, and support services staff to implement quality ELA instruction for students who need ELA support within and beyond their classrooms. The ELA Specialist is responsible for delivering a ELA program designed to meet student needs and providing staff development or additional support services, including model teacher lessons, based on the needs of the campus

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE: Three to Five years Teaching

Three to Five years leadership experience (preferred)
